The first phase of the Tequila Don Julio Wellspring has officially come to a close. This program of the USBG National Charity Foundation was designed to support and empower hospitality professionals through education, experience, and connection.
Participants visited the agave fields, Don Julio La Primavera distillery, and the heart of where it all began, Don Julio Gonzalez's hometown, Atotonilco Mexico.
The trips kicked off with a welcome happy hour and opportunity to meet Don Julio Global Ambassador and educator, Karina Sanchez.
Participants then toured the home of the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) to learn more about the production process directly from the scientists responsible for inspecting all Tequila produced in Mexico.
After a day of education participants go to experience all Guadalajara has to offer, art, music, shopping and incredible food and drinks.
Finally the participants had the opportunity to tour the Don Julio Primavey distillery, and contribute first hand to the conservation of the agave fields, by planting their very own buds. They met and learned from the hardworking farmers who carefully maintain and ensure the long lasting sustainability of the fields…and the less hardworking pups who accompany them!
“I had the most incredible time! I learned so much about Don Julio and tequila in general. Also, I could not have asked for a better group of humans to share this experience with! The entire program is so beneficial to the hospitality industry and I will forever be grateful to have been chosen. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.” - Don Julio January Participant
Phase 2 tours will take place March 9-12 and April 13-16, follow along @usbg on all social channels to stay up to date announcements and future opportunities!
