Reza really likes to eat and drink, but loves to serve and entertain most.
Amidst 26 years in the San Francisco hospitality trade, he has performed many duties including Bar Director, General Manager and Operating Partner. In 1999 he managed one of the city’s first artisanal cocktail programs at Gordon’s House of Fine Eats. His talents have since contributed to the launch of several notable endeavors including Pesce, Conduit, Zare at Fly Trap, Smuggler’s Cove, Honor Bar and Derby Cocktail Co. His cocktails and service have garnered numerous accolades from media, including a 2009 SF Chronicle “Bar Stars” feature.
In 2014, the revered La Mar by the Gaston Acurio Group contracted Ananas Consulting to redirect the bar program in SF and launch La Mar at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami. Thus far in 2015, he has traveled the United States and Europe speaking at trade educational seminars, judged several national cocktail competitions and toured many distilleries and breweries to further educate himself in the production of quality beverages. With one successful new restaurant and bar launch in Amador County, CA complete, Reza is poised to direct upcoming openings in San Francisco.
Reza has been an active member of the United States Bartender’s Guild for 11 years and is proud of his contributions to the community. In addition to having served as former President of the Northern California Chapter of the USBG, he was elected as Western Regional Vice President in 2013. As a national officer, he is a member of the Board of Directors and serves on several committees. He actively participates in food related philanthropic causes such as Taste of the Nation; Meals On Wheels; Eat, Drink, SF; and CUESA.
Ananas, is the Farsi term for pineapple, the international symbol of hospitality.
