World Class Studios houses a series of training sessions meant to push boundaries, educate, and inspire bartenders around the globe. Some of the world’s best bartenders, drink professionals, and creatives have helped craft each original session, providing a fresh and original take on spirits education that is valuable to everyone, no matter your experience level.


Each session is centered around a different spirit in the Diageo Reserve portfolio and is inspired by a facet of each spirit’s production, history, or ethos.

World Class Studios are presented by expert speakers including industry masters and World Class alumni.

Meet our Presenters: 

           ANU APTE:

Anu Apte (She/They) is the sole proprietor of Seattle cocktail den Rob Roy and co-owns award-winning bars, No Anchor, Navy Strength, Vinnie’s Wine Shop, as well as The BAR BAZAAR, a place for locals to pick up bar supplies and tools. Rob Roy continues to achieve national and international accolades. No Anchor was given two James Beard nods, and Navy Strength won Best New American Cocktail Bar at Tales of the Cocktail in 2018. She has been included in multiple books and publications for her work. In 2014, she was invited to present a cocktail at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution for the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences from the University of Utah, has successfully tested for the BAR 5 Day program, is a Registered Yoga Instructor, currently sits on the board of directors for Seattle Restaurants United, and is working on a Post-Baccalaureate Program for Counseling and Psychology Professions through UC Berkeley intending to integrate mental health care and coaching into hospitality professions.

           CHRIS CARDONE:

Chris Cardone has 20 years of bartending, hospitality, and nightlife experience. He has trained, opened, and consulted for multiple restaurants, cocktail bars, nightclubs and a bartending school in New York. He has helped design, build, and remodel bars on Long Island and New York City. Chris is the 2017 US Champion of Diageo World Class, the world's largest global mixology competition, as well as a three time national finalist (2014, 2016 & 2017).

In 2015, Chris also finished in the top 3 at a National Finals competition at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.



Adam Fournier hails from Pennsylvania, but has been a native of Los Angeles, CA for over a decade. He is a proud graduate of the Syracuse University theater program. He's been a hospitality professional for over 15 years. Over the years, he has run and worked with renowned bar programs, including Areal and Faith and Flower before joining the opening team of NoMad LA. As one of NoMad LA’s Bar Managers, he helped lead the team to receive local awards and national recognition. An avid competitor, his dreams came true in 2021, when after five years of competing Adam was crowned the World Class US Bartender of the Year. He is thrilled to have made it to the Global Top Ten, finishing fifth.

He has a new role as Bar Director at the Fellow in Los Angeles, as the team works towards earning their first Michelin star.


A global bartending champion, James Beard Award winning beverage designer and guest experience guru, Charles Joly is a leader in the international craft cocktail and spirits movement. With over 20 years in the hospitality industry, he has helped to usher in the modern age of the cocktail.

Fresh off of his fifth year creating and serving the signature cocktails at the Oscars and Emmys, he is a go-to entertainment personality for sources like People, E!, Access Hollywood, US Weekly, The Today Show, Rachel Ray and others. Charles is sought out for his refined palate, creativity and no-nonsense approach to hosting. As one of the most respected authorities in the beverage field, Charles regularly shares the stage with his celebrity counterparts from the culinary world. He's had the honor of creating cocktail pairings alongside Dominque Crenn, Stephanie Izard, Jose Andres and other visionaries.


Laura Newman is a Brooklyn native who moved to Birmingham, Alabama in the spring of 2017. While she initially intended for the move to be temporary, she was so taken by the growing food and beverage scene that she decided to open a bar in the booming downtown Loft District. Her first bar, Queen's Park, opened in November 2018, featuring a menu of forgotten and not-so-familiar classic cocktails.

Laura has been a national finalist in competitions such as Patron's Margarita of the Year, the Woodford Manhattan Experience, and Speed Rack. Most recently, in 2018 she became the first woman to win the Diageo World Class US competition and placed in the top 4 at the global finals in Berlin.



Lauren has worked many roles in the food and beverage industry, including lead bartender of Drink Co., F&B Manager for Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants in Washington, DC, and most recently as R&D Production Chef at Silver Lyan at the Riggs DC Hotel. Today, she spends her time creating diverse, inclusive, and equitable spaces through her work with Focus on Health. She is currently a Safe Bars Trainer, and the social media coordinator for Speed Rack.

Lauren was listed on Wine Enthusiast 2021, Global Bar 100 Industry People To Know 2021, and was inducted into the Dame Hall of Fame 2021.



Initially working in the engineering field, Trevor has since transitioned to the hospitality industry over the last six years. he has made a name for himself around the Midwest as a famed bartender, quickly becoming managing partner & founder of Copper Spoon, Sidecar, and Cubeicle Ice & Co. At Copper Spoon & Sidecar, his day-to-day titles include beverage director & general manager. Cubeicle, a clear ice company founded in 2018, brings clear ice to Indiana for the first time. In 2018, Trevor advanced into the World Class national rank as a top 15 bartender in the United States. In 2020, he was accepted into the highly-acclaimed BAR-5 DAY Spirit Education Program, securing a top 10 spot in the class.

In 2020, under the direction of Trevor, Copper Spoon was recognized by the most respected industry professionals in the annual Spirited Awards, earning nominations for Best American Bar Team and Worlds Best Cocktail Menu. These nominations listed a Fort Wayne restaurant & bar next to iconic industry heavyweights across the globe.
