The Application is now open for the 2023 USBG National Cocktail Competition IBA Qualifier!
The 2023 IBA World Cocktail Championship (WCC) is the biggest reunion of the World’s finest Cocktail and Flair Bartenders! Incorporating all 64 countries of the IBA, The WCC will be a battle of the best. The skills and entertainment will be absolutely incredible.
This year Italy will be hosting the WCC in the magnificent city of Rome, led by the incredible Associazione Italiana Barmen e Sostenitori.
The USBG National Cocktail Competition is the IBA Qualifier which identifies our champions to represent the USBG in two IBA global competitions. The highest-scoring competitor will be named the USBG National Champion and will head to Italy to compete in the Classic Division at the 2023 World Cocktail Championship and our Runner-Up will compete at the Pan-American Cocktail Championship in the Dominican Republic.
The application is now open in search of the next USBG National Champion! Who will represent the USA for the USBG in Italy this year? Could it be you?
DETAILS
Phase I:
Members will have eight weeks to submit a recipe and video to be evaluated for the 2023 USBG National Cocktail Competition, which determines Team USA. To enter the competition, all competitors will submit a Long Drink cocktail recipe and a digital cocktail preparation video with their brief inspiration story. Ideally, we would like to see every chapter represented amongst the entries for diversity and fairness. Recipes are due by June 23, 2023.

Committee Review:
After the June 23rd deadline, video entries will be scored for technical proficiencies to identify the Top 20 Competitors. The Top 20 entries will then have their cocktail recipe recreated by our judging panel and evaluated for the Tasting score. The Technical and Tasting scores for the Top 20 entries will be combined to tabulate the overall score that will determine the USBG National Champion and the Runner-Up.

TIMELINE:
- April 25 – June 23: Application Submission Phase I
- June 23: Application due to include One (1) Long Drink cocktail recipe and one (1) recorded digital video demonstration/1-minute inspiration story
- June 23 – July 21: Participant Selection
- July 25 (on or before): Top 20 Announcement
- September 4-8: Pan-American Cocktail Championship in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
- November 28 – December 2: World Cocktail Championship in Rome, Italy
