We are currently seeking Speaker Submissions for our 2021 Regional Conferences that will take place Fall 2021!
Have you ever had an interest in sharing knowledge with others, or speaking to a group of people about something that interests you? It is not as scary as some may think. In fact, the feeling one gets when they realize they have just impacted a group of people is quite extraordinary. Be a part of supporting our efforts to educate and build community amongst bartenders and the growth and development of our industry.
Speaker submissions are being accepted for the following categories:
- Advanced Bartending
- Bar/Restaurant Operations
- General Leadership
- Chapter/Community Governance
- Holistic Development (Health, Wellness, and Personal Development)
- Your Own Topic (that will contribute to the growth and development of our members and our industry)
You Have to Start Somewhere! Regional conferences offer a chance for you to present to like-minded peers and solicit their feedback. Find out what works and what doesn't. You'll build a foundation that could lead to future opportunities and the ability to request speaker fees on future engagements.
Put Yourself Out here! Submit your proposed session and see what happens. Take advantage of the submission form question that asks if you would like your proposal to be considered for other regions. The more you submit, the better chance your session has for being selected!
What is Needed for a Speaker Submission? To ensure you are ready to submit, make sure you have a brief synopsis of your seminar/workshop/topic, a detailed draft of your presentation, know your audio-visual needs, and estimated cost/fees for reimbursement (if applicable). Each speaker will have ONE HOUR to present their topic, including Q&A.
***Please note that any seminars that include a tasting component, MUST be sponsored (At least an Advocate Level Sponsor + $1000 per seminar add-on). For more information about sponsorships, please click here to schedule a call with Sheila Rosario, Director of Development.
When designing your seminar, make sure you tailor your presentation to the audience. Please keep in mind that USBG members are dedicated professionals and will likely ask detailed questions. Be creative, thorough, and informative. Many Regional Conference attendees will be Chapter Officers and will have a few years of experience behind the bar; however, some attendees will be new to the industry. Make sure your material can relate to both.
If your presentation includes a brief tasting of your brand(s), please refrain from presenting a consumer-oriented marketing presentation. These bartenders are accustomed to detailed descriptions of products for which they expertly create cocktails. We recommend presenting an explanation of the production process (raw material, fermentation, distillation, maturation, bottling, etc.), any pertinent brand information, history, and Q& A. ***Tastings are limited to five (5) half-ounce samples/cocktails.
Speaker submissions are due by March 15, 2021.
If you are interested in submitting your idea to more than one Regional Conference, there is a question on the submission form that will allow your submission to be considered for all regions that you indicate. As we finalize whether the 2021 Regional Conferences will be live events or a virtual experience, we have added the option for you to also indicate if you would be interested in presenting virtually.
The USBG National Education Committee will review all the submissions and approve each Regional Conference Seminar Agenda.
You will be contacted by May 17 to let you know if your submission has been accepted and to confirm that you are still available to present over the conference dates.
