You won’t want to miss the next online seminar presented by the USBG Education Committee: The Many Myths and Misbegotten Categories of Rum with Matt Pietrek, aka the Cocktail Wonk, sponsored by Don Q Rum.
The seminar will include a brief discussion on why some say rum is more diverse than bourbon or gin, and Pietrek will deconstruct various myths ("rum is made from sugar, therefore it is sweet") and useless categorizations (white, gold, dark). By the end of the seminar, you should leave with a new way of thinking about the cane spirit category, along with concrete examples of rums to seek out to experience its diversity.
