How does the Member Referral Program work?

When you refer someone for membership, be sure they mention you on their application - it's that simple!

Each quarter, the member with the most referrals will be gifted an exclusive USBG swag item. And each year an annual recipient is recognized, too!

Nicknames? "MattRay" all as one word.

Guiltiest pleasure drink? FROZEN MARGARITAS!

What is your favorite quote? "No water-drinker ever wrote a poem that lasted." -- Horace, 20 BCE

What is the best advice you have ever received? "Meet as many people not like you as possible. It makes you kinder and more empathetic."

What advice could you offer to others? Take the time off. Go on that vacation. Our industry is FULL of martyrs and you don't have to be one, unless your name is on the lease or a family depends on you. Go out there, be joyful, bring that back with you and share it with everyone.

If you could change jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be? Cartoon voice-over artist.

What other profession would you NEVER try? There's no profession that you can't learn something from.

Is there something about you that would surprise people? I've hitchhiked across the West Coast and Ireland! It was always surprising and delightful.

What (or who) is the greatest love of your life? Education. Maybe chocolate.

Why did you join the USBG? I like being around people that are passionate about their craft.

What is your #1 take-away from your USBG Member experience thus far? That bartending can both be a career and a stepping-stone to another one. USBG can help with both.
