USBG, Accounting Manager

What does your professional background look like? I was in the service industry when I was younger, and in my mid 20's I worked in Marketing and Administration. After graduating from the University of California with a degree in economics, I started out as an Accounting Technician for the USBG and was later promoted to Accounting Manager

How long have you been on Staff and/or involved with the USBG? I have been working for the USBG since February 2016

Where do you live?
Sacramento, CA

How did you first get connected to the USBG?
I was attending college at UC Davis and needed some extra money to pay for bills, I saw a job posting and applied and luckily landed the job

Got any hobbies? Currently I am on the Board of a local Wine Club here in Sacramento. We host events at local restaurants, bars and wineries. I also purchased my first home last year and spend many of my weekends working on my house - it's almost done! Once my house is done, I look forward to spending my weekends hiking, hitting the gym, traveling, spending time with friends and family and enjoying delicious food and cocktails at both local and non-local places

What's your favorite self-care practice? My favorite self-care practice is going to the gym. Even when I don't want to go, I always feel much better after going

What's your favorite drink? Hmm.. That's a tough one. Lately, I've been really into a good Sazerac or Manhattan

What's it like working remotely? Working remotely can be lonely at times but within that same breath, I also enjoy the silence. It's nice to be able to work in my own space, and if I want to work for more than 8 hours I can do it from the comfort of my own home. Also, if I need to work on a project over the weekend, I can, which is nice

Any recent work-related accomplishments you're especially proud of? I am the staff liaison for the Nominating Committee, and this year we have seven candidates running for three spots on the National Board. I feel very lucky to work with so many talented members and to be able to get to know them

How do you transition out of Work Mode and into Non-Work Mode? I transition from work mode into non-work mode by putting all my work away in my desk and sitting down in my living room for a bit to read something non-work related

Is there anything unique about yourself you'd like to share? This year I participated in my first triathlon. I did the shortest distance which is called a sprint triathlon. It consisted of a 400 meter swim, 14 mile bike, and a 3 mile run. I have always been a strong swimmer. I was on swim team for ten years and also did water polo for three, but I'm not a strong runner. My goal is to do an Olympic distance triathlon next year, and I feel like competing holds me accountable. Everyone in the triathlon community are so supportive and kind; much like members of the USBG

Tell us a joke! Just in time for Halloween, a silly joke: A skeleton walks into a bar and says, “I’d like a beer and a mop.”
